Telenor Connexion has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Farmpro, a pioneering start-up in IoT-based livestock farming solutions. The strategic partnership aims to accelerate Farmpro‘s worldwide expansion efforts and enhance its innovative health management solution for livestock.
Farmpro announced an MoU with Telenor Connexion at the Farmpro HQ opening ceremony in Singapore on June 12, 2023. The MoU signing paves the way for Farmpro to leverage Telenor’s connectivity expertise and overcome communication challenges in global markets, thereby facilitating its expansion plans.
Farmpro’s innovative solution utilizes electronic ear tags to monitor real-time body temperature and activity of livestock, enabling early detection of diseases, enhanced fertilization, and improved overall farm efficiency. Through the application of their artificial insemination solutions, Farmpro has achieved impressive results, reducing calf mortality rates by 10% and doubling the probability of pregnancy in cows.
Telenor boasts an extensive global reach with over 20 million IoT connections across 200 countries.
By partnering with Telenor, Farmpro gains access to a robust IoT infrastructure that resolves communication challenges posed by varying network environments in different countries. At the Farmpro HQ opening ceremony in Singapore, Farmpro announced its full-scale global expansion plans to target key livestock markets such as Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand.
Farmpro’s entry into Singapore was accomplished with the support of the Global Big IN project, a public-private partnership governance establishment project hosted by Incheon City.
Kang Shin-ho, Head of the Venture Business Headquarters at the Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency, said, “We plan to continue to support Farmpro’s electronic tag business so that it can achieve great success not only in Korea but also in the global market.”
Through the collaboration between Telenor Connexion and Farmpro, the livestock industry can leverage advanced IoT technologies to improve animal health, increase productivity, and promote sustainable farming practices on a global scale.
