Telenor Connexion security expert speaking at Mobile World Congress

Telenor Connexion security expert, Jimmy Johansson, will be speaking at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Johansson, who was involved in the development of GSMA’s IoT Security Guidelines, will highlight the importance of security when connecting services and products.

Jimmy Johansson, Information Security and Privacy Officer at Telenor Connexion, will participate in two speaking sessions at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Jimmy, who was involved in the development of GSMA’s IoT Security Guidelines, will highlight the importance of security when connecting services and products.

The number of connected products and services is increasing at a record pace. The growing possibilities make many companies want to quickly bring new solutions to the market, which too often leads to deficiencies in terms of security and privacy. Jimmy Johansson is attending MWC to highlight these challenges and will explain how companies can develop secure IoT solutions.

Seminar: Connected Living Securely Scaling the Internet of Things (Session 2: Securing the IoT)
The security of IoT services is only as good as its weakest link. That is why industry organization GSMA has developed IoT Security Guidelines, a framework for secure design, development and deployment of IoT services. The framework is presented by Don Bailey, CEO at Lab Mouse Security. Jimmy Johansson has been involved in the development of the framework and will speak about the challenges and problems at hand when it comes to developing these guidelines.

The seminar will end with a group Q&A session moderated by Dr. Shane Rooney, Executive Director, Internet of Things, at GSMA, where also Gustavo Tanoni, Security Solutions Manager at Ericsson is attending.

Time: Wednesday, February 24th, 10:30 – 11:30 a
Location: GSMA Seminar Theatre 1, CC1.1

Panel: Securing the Internet of Things
With a rapidly increasing number of connected things – from wearables and connected cars to smart homes and critical infrastructure – comes a greater risk of potential security threats. Hackers will always look for ways to expose new vulnerabilities.

What is the industry, from device manufacturers and app developers to mobile operators and industry alliances, doing to secure the Internet of Things? How can security and encryption be embedded into IoT platforms, apps and big data stores? These are questions that Jimmy Johansson is addressing together with speakers such as Sven Schrecker (Chief Architect IoT Security Solution, Intel), James Lyne (Global Head of Security Research, Sophos) and Marc Jones (CEO, Aeris Communications).

Time: Thursday, February 25th, 11:00 – 12:00 AM
Location: Hall 4, Auditorium 5
