Improving safety of home care for the elderly: Telenor IoT connects Tunstall’s new generation of telecare hubs

Global digital care and health solutions provider Tunstall Healthcare, and Telenor IoT are partnering up to further enhance the connectivity resilience of Tunstall’s telecare hubs on the European market.

For release in Europe, February 22, 2024 – Global digital care and health solutions provider Tunstall Healthcare, and Telenor IoT are partnering up to further enhance the connectivity resilience of Tunstall’s telecare hubs on the European market.

Tunstall offers a broad range of connected care and health solutions designed to help people to live more independently and with an improved quality of life. Tunstall’s connected solutions supports more than four million people daily. Being a global leader in this segment, they have a critical role in solving societal challenges with the aging population and streamlining digital care.

Tunstall Lifeline Digital is a new, user-friendly telecare hub built on technology that gives the care recipient access to assistance and monitoring around the clock. The unit is compatible with a large range of sensors located throughout the home or as personal devices worn on the body. Alarm units are triggered by personal or environmental events such as temperature changes and motion, detecting specific movements and events that require emergency assistance, to which monitoring centers can respond. This way care can be preventive, personalized, and more efficient.

For a connected product that has a crucial role in guarding human lives, like a telecare hub, minimizing downtime and latency is vital. The service must be available when there’s an emergency.

To maximize the reliability of the service without adding complexity to the design, Tunstall chose to offer “double managed connectivity” provided by Telenor IoT. The dual sim with two profiles allows switching between two separate mobile networks, to avoid being dependent on one network only.

“For a telecare hub, the service availability should be as close to 100 percent as possible even with the new wireless technology – like it was with old copper networks. We chose Telenor IoT exactly because of that, to provide reliable and professionally monitored connectivity for this high-quality product”, explains Linus Persson, Group Product Manager for Connectivity & Device Management at Tunstall.

“We are proud to work with an innovative company like Tunstall, in the societally important sector of smart health care. IoT plays a key role in enabling more advanced, lifesaving health monitoring, which we are excited to explore with Tunstall” says Paulo Vergos, Chief Sales & Solution Officer for the Nordics at Telenor Connexion.
