Telenor Connexion to host new IoT event in South Africa on September 18

Telenor Connexion and Business Sweden will co-host the inaugural IoT Gathering, in Pretoria, South Africa, on September 18. The one-day conference will bring together thought leaders and showcase how innovative businesses and organizations are successfully increasing their competitive edge by adopting the Internet of Things.

Telenor Connexion will showcase how innovative businesses and organizations are successfully increasing their competitive edge by adopting the Internet of Things (IoT), at the inaugural IoT Gathering, in Pretoria, South Africa, on September 18.

Co-hosted with Business Sweden, the one-day conference will leverage on Telenor Connexion’s expertise as a global IoT operator. The event will bring together thought leaders from across key industry verticals who will present innovative strategies and eye-opening use cases.

Speaking about the upcoming conference, Thomas Strandin, Head of Sales Region EMEA, Telenor Connexion, says: “South Africa is an advanced and fast-growing region. The South African vehicle tracking market, for example, is one of the most sophisticated in the world.

“At the upcoming IoT Gathering, we look forward to highlighting a selection of innovative organizations who have benefited from embracing IoT in South Africa.

“With our international experience and advanced understanding of IoT, we look forward to meeting and sharing our insights with event attendees.”

Among the speakers presenting at the conference are: Roger Hislop, Executive Head, The IoT Industry Council of South Africa; Emad AlMasri, CTO Network Products, Ericsson South Africa; and IoT-experts from Telenor Connexion.

This is the first time the IoT Gathering in South Africa has took place. The event is being co-organized with Business Sweden and hosted at the Swedish Embassy in Pretoria from 14.00-17.00 on Wednesday, September 18. There will also be time to mingle afterwards. The conference is expected to attract attendees specialized in the IoT domain, including research projects, large industries, SMEs, developers and policymakers.

In addition, the Swedish Ambassador in South Africa as well as the first secretary and key decision-makers from the South African IoT Industry are expected to attend.
